Title: Mgb'09: V-150 Cadillac Cage
Description: 7.62mm GPMG Coax Twin Barrel version

xamel1975 - March 25, 2009 02:00 AM (GMT)
Another armor subject for MGB '09. Other than my PARA Scorpion, which is under repainting process, I plan to build this one as the 7.62mm GPMG Coax (Twin Barrel) version, which walkaround was featured in the Resource's Armor section.

I'm using HobbyBoss' LAV-150 with 90mm Cockerill Cannon kit, which I bought just to get the cannon actually ^_^ . There was some fitting issue here and there when I start assembling the kit. Some clean up are required as there are some fleshing on the parts. Instructions are a bit vague. Be careful as you might miss out some parts that needs to be assembled.

Interior is rather simple. The floor has the kit's name stamped on it.

Things to do:

- Enlarge the side doors
- Modify the cupola
- Scratchbuild the smoke grenade rack
- Some of the kit's detail parts like the railings need to be replaced

Minor update,

First, I roughly mark the length of the door.

Using dove-tail saw and plastic cutter, I cut out the door.

Original turret - need to cut out the right front part a bit.

Cut out the front of the turret. Next in order would be to cover the two top hatch and scratchbuild a 8-window cupola + 1 door hatch. The windows also need to be covered up.

Begin working on the turret. I start by lining up some plastic sheet to provide some support before I start filling up the holes. Holes will be filled up with Bondite (what else?).

Last night I was working on the top hatch when I realize something weird. The kit's gun turret looks a little too tall.

See the difference? I'm thinking of taking 2mm off the top of the turret.

It looks more like the bottom of the turret needs to be shaved.

I do not want to create false illusions, but maybe a turret "almost exact" was made in the Philippines, but they have stretched the hull.
I found some news at this address:

I do not know all the versions that I leave the floor to the experts.
It 'the first time that I try to put a link and images, I hope that works.
Let me know.

Marcus,
photo works fine.

As for the turret, it looks like the real one has a neck and collar.

Marcus, thanks for the links....it was really useful for some of us....
I didn't know HB produced those special limited edition kit. Anyway, as for this Malaysian version, maybe the turret will fit and just add collar and neck..IMHO
But i read the thread, they said it was meant only for a group of member which i dont have a clue who was that...
thanks bro... and the photo showed up good in this side of the world.

Marcus you are right about the turret for the V100/150 at A'FAmosa Resort, Melaka.

Xamel the turret you convert from V150 Cockerill is too big as the turret on the Melaka walkaround you posted is the same one man turret as on AAVP7 Amtrack but this was a lenghtened version. The Phillipines ones is the same, as also the turret on the Canadian AVGP.

xamel1975 - August 10, 2009 06:29 AM (GMT)
Marcus,

Thanks for the link. Appreciate it ^_^ !

banderkt7,

You're right about the turret. After I did the necessary plastic surgery (pun intended  ), it still looks huge. I got a spare LVTP turret given by a fellow modeller last week and currently working in it. Looks way much better in terms of size.

xamel1975 - August 13, 2009 04:20 AM (GMT)
Arrays of smoke grenade really giving me a headache. There are 18 cannister in total. The kit provides 12 cannister. Have to scratchbuild the remaining 6 I guess.

No photos. Been concentrating on the work that needs to be done on the V-150.

xamel1975 - September 8, 2009 09:47 AM (GMT)
Didn't notice the reply there WizardCraft... sorry!

The APC is at A' Famosa Park, Melaka. I think it's the same APC. The picture was taken last year. No access to the interior.

MGB '09 have passed but the build still goes on...
