Title: Mg Rx-78-3 Gundam
Description: what type of kit is this?

giantmecha - March 2, 2009 08:34 AM (GMT)
Hi all,

wondering if all the gundam sifu out there can help identify this kit:

http://goods.ruten.com.tw/item/show?11080731420209

I don't particularly build gundam so my knowledge in this area is...how do you say..cacat so to speak.

but from what I can see it's not your regular bandai kit cos the bandai kits have thicker waist, while this particular model is slimmer and is more rounded at the arms and feet.

all said, this kit sure looks good and is really tempting me to pick up on the gundam habit again la.... so anyone know? thanks in advance.

Its a resin part upgrade for MG Strike Freedom. But this one is completed kits.

I'm very sure thats not a RX-78-3. Its a evolved version from normal RX?, like lately, there is the evolved version of Nu Gundam. :D

For NT$2000, i think thats a good buy if you like to use resin on MG. :D

so correct me if I am wrong, you have to buy a bandai strike freedom first, then buy this one and put them all together to get the effect like in the picture?

I'm not sure bout this resin. But judging from the price, I think you are right.

Think u need the MG Strike freedom's skeleton and essemble this resin parts. He does clearify at the bottom of the page. (If u can read chinese.) Same goes with this Double Zeta, http://goods.ruten.com.tw/item/show?11080731405078

It indeed a very creative way to modify RX-78, slimmer leg n waist with raised shoulder.

R u planning to get this???

looks tempting but I think he cannot sell outside his country which is taiwan or something. my wife just briefly explained.

tried looking for one in ebay but no luck la.... I really don't understand how that thing works cos my written chinese is also quiet impaired. like my knowledge of gundam. haha

so is it true that he is not willing to sell outside his country?

nah....tried but cannot seems you have to have a valid taiwan IC and phone number before you can register and start buying stuff like that.

oh well, back to good old scratch building.

I hope I am wrong with this but I suspect that when it comes to Gundam stuff, especially where resin is concerned, any place outside Japan (apart from Hong Kong's G-system) are usually copycats. And maybe, not being sold outside Taiwan could be a reason.

For example, the 1/35 G-system Gundam heads have been widely recast as sold in eBay for a fraction of the price. I am tempted to get it but when I think of it, its still too expensive. ha ha ha ha :P

giantmecha - March 3, 2009 04:38 PM (GMT)
did a search after your comment. guess what? a 1/35 gundam head only cost less than RM200!!! wow! a fraction indeed!!

http://cgi.ebay.com.my/1-35-RX-78-GP02A-Gu...oQQcmdZViewItem

can consider cheaper than some of the 1/100 mg kits out there!!

Yup, Mr Engineer is right. There's lot of copy cat resin part around. The details n quality is the main concern. If u can read chinese, there's a forum www.hkml.net where u can find recast resin part.

Mr. Engineer - March 4, 2009 04:36 PM (GMT)
There is another thing that stops me from buying recasts. Its not just because of the price but the moral ethics that goes with it. In another Forum, it is frowned upon to buy copycat stuff due to the argument that the people involved spent countless hours and effort to get their stuff out. And sometimes, getting the rights to do it as well. Just recasting would put all their effort to naught.

But the other side of the coin is that, since the makers are already copying from the original, a recast is a copy of the copy of the original.

But for me, its more like, "What if they found out I used a recast model when I got First Prize on my model........." :D [But it won't happen la because I suck at model making. You just ask CaptKirk and he will tell you all about it]

However, I have no qualms whatsoever when it comes to DVDs and CDs since I truly believe how the Music Industry came to where it is/was were due to the Music Fatcats and not the artists. Anyhoo, Uncle Ho staff have much better customer service with their great movie recommendations, loyalty cards and also, the famous no-questions-asked one to one swap. :P

Still, one day, when I have the cash, I want the 1/35 MSA-0011 Ex head.....

RX-78-2 - March 4, 2009 06:46 PM (GMT)
for me, this is doesn't look good as the evolved version of RX-78!!
the proportion doesn't look right at all if you compare to other evolve kits!!!

For good design gundam conversion kits, try get those from Core-Works or G System design.

For recast kits, can check on the www.e2046.com! very good reputation, nice casting and packing.
