Looks really scary in the dark. Have you tried building any wooden ships Wydu84? I mean kits that are made of balsa.

Bomber Vince - January 14, 2009 05:01 PM (GMT)
dude, u really build nice things that I thought it was not nice. I've changed my point of view. I revell use this pic as box art or reference pic, the kit will sure sell well.

PoohBear - January 14, 2009 11:48 PM (GMT)
Nice Wendy. I wouldn't want to have that in my room at night!

Gasp!..
could the 'procurement specialist' be Peter Pan????
and you are Wendy??, hence the passion for sailing ships...... :P

Ghost ship, nice n scary  .

Welcome Wendy. Mind intro urself more  , finally get to know another female modeller. :P

wydu84 - January 15, 2009 03:46 PM (GMT)
This ship was built by my "procurement specialist", so did the paint, but he couldn't do the rigging, thus I come in place. :D

If you notice, this ship is without the 'Glow in the dark' decal and flag... It's not in the box... Wonder did he found it when he moved his store... maybe somewhere under his showcase or table?????? <_<

Nice meeting you, 'hush puppy' in HHQ that day. I still remember you r the guy that taught me to use turpentine to washing off unwanted paint and it wont hurt the plastic. I'll let you know what happened to my Lord Nelson's ship if i meet you again next time.

Hi to Becky. :D

Becky - January 15, 2009 06:57 PM (GMT)
Hi again. U know its kinda 'lonely' here when u're the only female in this male dominant hobby. :P Glad to hav u here, will u join the coming workshop??

koowilliams - January 15, 2009 07:24 PM (GMT)

uh, oh. Don't sound like it worked.

Paint removal is always a messy experience.

You may try rubbing alcohol to remove paint work. I have tried it with acrylic and lacquer coatings. I bet it works on enamel as well.

Becky - January 16, 2009 07:52 AM (GMT)
I did try nail polisher removal to clean my kits, try on arcylic n laquer havent try on enamel yet.

landyshah - January 16, 2009 08:06 AM (GMT)
Purchasing consultant...i like that

Do you need another? :P

For paint removal, I use brake fluid for enamels, and Alcohol for acrylics...

Hi

There's a product named Easy Off that comes in a yellow spray bottle. Basically it's used to clean stains from ovens. I've heard of it mentioned in modeling forums as a paint remover.

I've tried it on my old P-47 to get rid of enamel paints. It doesn't attack plastic. Use an old tooth brush to remove the grit after it starts to disintegrate.

Richard.

Wow!! This must be one of the most active forum that I've seen in Malaysia. Thank you for all the reply and useful tips!! :D

Thanks for all the information given. I will bear alcohol (25 yrs whiskey??), Nail polish remover, brake fluid, and yellow oven cleaner all in mind! Thank you very much!

Glow in the dark paint is provided by Revell and a brush too. It's not scary at all... I would rather call it cute  The length of this cute pirate ghost ship is only 22cm. If it happens to appear in your room, you can just spank it if it threaten your safety, crash it with your bolster, or even catch it and lock it in a cage where you can treat it as a pet.

Why would I need another purchasing consultant?? This means that there will be another fella controlling my financial and the way i'm spending money  NO WAY!! one is hectic enough  I still want to spend my hard earned money unwisely for Dior, Prada and Gucci... :D

Becky, what, when and where is the upcoming workshop?? May join if I'm free.

Becky - January 16, 2009 01:48 PM (GMT)
25 yrs whiskey??! Ahem... if u ever though of using that to wash ur paint, better giv it to me. :P

Thanks Beckie, Will be there.

f-4dablemodels - January 19, 2009 05:44 AM (GMT)
Brake fluid & oven cleaner used as paint remover is sure effective.

What bothers me is the corrosiveness, not to plastic but to skin.

Rubber gloves are a must when using these.
