Title: Mg 1/35 Patlabor Ingram 1st
Description: OOB for WOOB4

klay - December 1, 2008 06:03 AM (GMT)
Hi guys.. I'm building an MG 1/35 Ingram 1st from Patlabor series for WOOB4 (out-of-box build) :P

Since I missed the deadline for my last WOOB3, so this time around I better start off

Just got this thing snap-fitted last weekend..

My source of ref (there’s only 2 illustration inside the mag.. rili kena tipu by the frontpage :( )

So I started off with the head antenna
To facilitate airbushing and seamline removal, I split the inner part
user posted image

So the individual (diff color) parts can be inserted after AB

Move on with the head side armor
Covered the original hole with superglue
user posted image

Sand off clean
user posted image

Remake the new hole (original was 1 hole, I made 2)
user posted image

Some minor reshape of the groove (this seems allowed as I do not add on any additional parts)
user posted image

The mask

After (added another hole)

Antenna

After (added new panel line)

Despite having new groove and deepen those shallow panels, I realised all the pics looked just like sanded original parts.. it's almost same same with the original piece.. :o

Well, all I can say about this Ingram is that some joints are screw tight, so have to sand abit to loosen the joint (esp the elbow), overwise it's gonna be damn tight. Those ugly rubber cloth TPE is damn hard to remove the nip marks and molding lines, but good this is the inner frame no need to remove mold line and paint :)

And it's standing taller than most Gundam 1/100 kit making it a solid mecha

That’s all for time being.. C&C welcome as usual...

after much long distraction and lazy rest..
decided to do some tiny update.. :P

not much, just joint movement enhancement..

Becoz of the enhance hip movement, the thigh armor will block and scratch the hip/waist part, so some thinning of the side armor is required..

Due to lots of sanding, i find that cleaning with help of ultrasonic cleaner with water+window cleaner helps to remove sanding dust from crevices and nooks, panels come in handy. no need brushing every single piece with toothbrush.
just dump in, press "on", rinse.. kao-tim.

After cooking, started priming...

Below are primed with 1200 mr. surfacer, then 1000 mr. base white airbrushed.

dunno why, the pic shows the shaded area a bit grayish..
the real one looks perfectly white in front my eyes..
when i noted on few panels/parts with different shades of white especially the leg parts, i then snap-fitted them together and given another layer of white. however it is still noticeable...

C&C welcome...

Nice ... :Drool! keep it come bro!

Kay,

Very nice detailing. Noticed the kidney shaped tool you use to apply putty, though over sized is unusual with serrated saw teeth. What tool is it and where to buy one?

Really like the sanding down the surface to make the original rivets protrude instead of depressed. Perfect idea for guys who had purchase the rivet stamping tool. Thanks for sharing.

thanks for the interest :P
yeah.. the kidney-shaped Photo-Etch saw (the non-serrated side) can be used to apply putty instead

revliss.. i got it fr oldman..
not sure he still has stock or not, it's much thinner than any conventional saw fr art stores since it's PE.
mine was from crazy-model :P

the masking was basically done with 2-3 layers of diluted white glue.
well if the layer is thick enough, it may peel off as one piece.

painted the piston alclad 2 chrome and masked, painted with grey

Jeolous man... My Ingram2 is like layiing on my workdesk for weeks liao...

Try your new airbrush? :P

klay - April 27, 2009 04:49 AM (GMT)
Updates..

okay.. tackling the ugly waist rubber joint.
i dunno if those who had build this kit having problem with those rubber joints, especially the waist part. the rubber sleeve at the bottom keep coming off when there's even the slightest movement..
i've to glue it to the base as re-attachment is pretty cumbersome without armor removal
user posted image

used masking tape to temporary secure and seal with superglue.
user posted image

then to the application of dry transfer (problem again)
user posted image
(the middle word, the left top corner there's a piece got detached even with my best efford of using masking tape to prevent movement of the transfer sheet)

cut off small piece from spares
user posted image

allign and secure in place and tape it down.
user posted image

after repair, not perfect but better than a cracked one
user posted image
user posted image

The shield is done (pic shows before stencil repair). The badge is sticker with edge trimmed.

Going to finish very soon :)
