Subject: MiG-15 bis

In-flight mode; OOB build. Kit comes with clear fuselage but I opted for the normal one. I might let go the clear fuselage if anyone's interested.

Prior to paint the silver, I've undercoated the parts with flat black.

The front half of the fuselage assembled. Notice that I don't paint the engine 'cos I will glue it shut later.

This is going to be a normal build. That's why I don't paint the engine details.

Long overdue update,

Prior to painting, I did a bit of experiment. I wipe the model with alcohol swab to get rid of oil and dirt.

The MiG was primed and given a flat black base coat. Silver was applied by moving the handpiece from front to back to create some streaking effect.

The streaks are more obvious on the underside...

Sand the MiG-15 with 2000 grit sandpaper and repaint the silver. Weapons and antennas attached. Drop tanks painted but not attached yet.

Decals applied...

The toughest one to apply is the bolt on the tail. I cut them into few pieces and as if jigsaw puzzle, I apply the decals accordingly. The bolt end on the right side was messed up, so I use the extra decal for the clear body. It is not opaque, so there's some discoloration there.
