Revliss - October 29, 2008 01:38 PM (GMT)
hi guys here what i am working on
here my concept art, a little avance planing never hurt

i use milliput for the base , then sculpt it with sculpting putty call "ProCreated" very unsmooth for a name, right now i having troble sculpting her skirt

Very good effort at sculpting. The straps on the torso look nice and clearly defined.
Seeing that you are able to sculpt your own figures, I doubt the lack of resin kits where you're at poses much of a setback.
Nice concept art sketch too. Do you have a background in arts & sculpting?
Look forward to more progress and thanks for sharing.
cheers

ya i have a background in drawing but not sculpting that one i just pick up one day and run with it never look back, did some tutorial that found online.. i did drop my scukpting for some time sine i move back to KK from JB about 5 years agocos i run out of miliput ... as i don't have assece to Singapore (and assece to Tamiya model kit ) :( from here. and did some heavy anatomy studie from an online class. but that is focusing on the female form .. just pick back up my sculpting this year. i serioly need to fly over to KL and do some heavy shopping soon .. KK have a lack of tooles and model kit that not Gundam.

Revliss,
Welcome to the forum. I like your concept and I must say you have a very talented skill.
About the skirt, I'm also experimenting how to sculpt large cloth such as cape, flag.... I'd suggest U "divide" them into sections. I presume U'll have a better time management on sculpting this large piece... they can be glue in places like kits, once they're hard.
Perhaps our fellow member Beachbum can chip in some thought on this topic. He's doing very good with his "super granny" cloth....
Regards,

right now my plane of attack is to cover up her legs with sculpy then sculpt on to of it then later remove it. apply some Petroleum jellyas a divider then sculpt the skirt on to her pantat .. for what i know oil based clay (Plasticine) is better for the job but i can't get good one here all of them are the scogy very oily one .. and playdo will not d othe job so it sculpy for me then (my sculpy is left over that i got from Singapore 5 years ago ... ) really hate my local art store that monoipolice every thing and don't bring in good matirial .. sell every normal quality stuff for fist class price..
cptan - October 30, 2008 02:29 AM (GMT)
For my sculpting works... I normally use "Bondite" 2 piece Epoxy Putty (sell in hard ware shop multipurpose for patching leaking pipes)....
If you ever make it over KL here... U must visit Multifilla art supply shop that store almost every kind of sculpting materials.... hehehe... like a modeler (especially sculpter) paradise.

A very warm welcome aboard the SMM forum Revliss and to our little figure section as well.
Its always great to have another figure enthusiast aboard and a talented one too looking at your work. Very nice initial work in capturing the pose and curves. Is this figure in anyway related to a PC game some time back called Meat Puppet or something about a female assassin too?
Do check out the DIY and hardware stores in Sabah for Bondite. Its actually a 2-part epoxy used for patching cracks in walls but most of us here like it as its reaaaally cheap and although its not the best for sculpting compared to other actual scupting clay its fine grain enough for sculpting.
I hope to see more of your work.

To create the skirt if you need translucency use Fimo translucent polymer clay. You need to knead well with Mix quick for enhanced folds. Mix quick is a softener for polymer clay. Alternatively Fimo classic is a firmer polymer clay that could dress your girl without support. Sort of drap and fold the skirt. Note this is a colored opaque clay and wide range available like pearl, glitter, glo in dark and over 50 colors available. See color range in www.multifilla.com under Fimo, Premo site
Multifilla does mail order and you can order E Mail (Mfilla @tm.net.my) or fax 03 89613637 with online Public Bank, Maybank or RHB payment.
Recommend Sculpey firm Grey for fiqure sculpting if you do not wish to use Milliput
Revliss - October 31, 2008 11:52 AM (GMT)

No offence meant to any true breed sculptors as many a time we hear of insufficient time to complete figures. Agreed originality should not be discarded but many found the easy way to decapitate (learnt from the Japs) and remodel with putty. Why waste a good man.
With Polymer clay/super sculpey and a face mold, hands, feet, available in many scale sizes you simply press mold , remove to shape by distortion or addition to satisfaction. It can even be sculpt. Plenty of time to sculpt. Only then you bake to harden permanently.
Poly putty smells and hardens fast needing sanding to refine. So tedious and the head you chop off is not free and not even the size needed or sex. No wonder so many He-She looks. hehehe
Revliss - December 13, 2008 01:32 AM (GMT)
can't find a proper oven only see mricrowave over here :( , i don't what to bake C4 with that, i going to get Super sculpey FIRM from you soon after i get a oven, going to use it for bigger scale, any way i lack the skill to use sculpey for the current scale :( the expansive putty work fine for me at this scale ..
p.s: i have no fliping clue what going on with the market here in kk the only oven i see here that not a mricowave only have a timer that all can't set the temp.
do you guys have a heat gun ?
multifilla - December 13, 2008 03:25 AM (GMT)
A small oven thermometer at Rm 18.00 ex KL placed inside oven visible through the glass door works fine. Reading in degree F
Yes Heat gun works better . Temperature range 300 degree C to 500 degree C gives control baking to maturity at 130 degree C or 275 degree F. Ex KL Rm 100.00
To ensure even baking bake in layers or step by step so underneath is firm before adding top layer as you sculpt along. This ensure polymer clay is well bake and crack free only if you knead well polymer clay before sculpting and baking.
Polymer clay is actually a moldeable plastic like your extruded plastic model kit.
