desmosedici - October 20, 2008 01:49 AM (GMT)
I asked a friend of mine in Australia to grab some pics for me of this B-24 Liberator undergoing restoration in Victoria. Details can be found at this URL
here

More pics to follow once he sorts them out.

Saw the same at RAF Museum at Hendon two years ago. This bird is BIG!! I got an A4 size panel skin of a B24 that crashed in N9 at the end of WW2.

Manrex,
You can check at MHG website aka Malayan Historical Group. Type Google or yahoo. Plenty of details. Plus photos too. Right now, the team just got back from Gua Musang after assisting MAF and British Hicom in the search of a British DC3 wreck that crashed nearly 55 years ago. Prayers to the fallen crews (included our own).

Interesting piece of trivia relayed to me by my friend. He was told by one of the volunteers at the site that the B-24 was originally designed as a seaplane before the design change was made for a medium bomber. If you take a long careful look at the lower fuselage, and the high mounted wings, you can see the original design intention.

ye la...upper wing position, unlike other bomber like B29 orB17, their wing is in center wing....

come to think of it... the lib does look like a slimmed-down version of the Sunderland flying boat :P

no... i'm sure no one copied the design from the other.... just that the sunderland nose and hull shape looks uncannily similar in profile to a b-24j

here's another link on restored flying b-24 with interior pics.
b-24j 'withccraft' :)
