Title: 1/100 Mg Rx-78-2 Ver2.0 - Mod
Description: My first entry for BAKUC 2008

KIRIN - October 8, 2008 03:19 PM (GMT)
This will be a my first entry for BAKUC 2008.

I'm using this latest RX-78-2, ver2.0. Its a very nice kit from Bandai, beautiful inner frame, every joint is fully detail and well design, you can do multiple post, even 90 degree front and side kick.

Well, let see some photo...

The inner flame.

OK, let show some photo with my initial planning.
Pencil line - scribe for panel line.
Black marker line - cut, saw or add pla-plate.

Head

Plan to take away the 'neck' its looks too fat. will do a modification/replacement for the piston inside here.

Dunnoe what to add...

Component that form the armor of the head. Take photo for refference before it kena saw/chop/cut . :D

The mask look very thick for me...

With marker pen, draw a 1mm line inside the mask. Will do a sanding work here until the marker line gone to have a even thickness at both side.

Update.

The original jaw is too short, so I added 0.6mm by using tamiya pla-plate

A 0.5 x 0.2mm hole made to intall a rivet and a minus mold later.

50% of the panel line added on the head. pending for sanding and trimming.

Continue.

Due to the longer jaw, the cap unit will need to add another 0.5mm

user posted image

Personally I feel that the cannon on the head is very short and not attractive. So, I replace it with brass rod.

Note the changes made on the cap, it cover further of the eyes and make it look more 'yeng'

user posted image

Arm unit, chop, sand and 'engrave'!!!! 1mm panel line added. The square little holt at the right arm will add another rivet later.

Here come some progress on the back pack.

This is the original part, come with only little detail and a short thruster.

user posted image

Sand off the detail with Tamoya #180 adbrasive paper.

user posted image

With a tamiya router, I cut away the joint for the thruster and make a new hole for the new thruster.

Shorten 1mm at the joint.

New metal thruster.
