Title: Trumpeter's 1/24 Scale Figure

seelianglim - October 6, 2008 11:14 AM (GMT)
Hello all

I am using this Trumpeter's 1/24 figure to test out what i have learnt from the recently concluded how-to-paint figure session.

The figure is a resin figure included in Trumpeter's 1/24 scale Spitfire. It actually has got 3 figures. The figure is quite sharply detailed (my opinion), it even has got nostrils. The details look like it was carved out from a block of resin.

The flesh portion was painted in enamels. After this pic was taken, i had gone back to it and did some more touch up. Will post the next set of pics soon

Wow. Quite a few figures being churned out lately :)

It's not so hard to start off now is it? It's mastering it that will cause you endless grief. ^_^

cheers and keep up with the good efforts.

Overall its not too bad a fig as you say Lim. Nice details on the fur and the face but its a pity the point where the arms are next to the body the sculpting turns a bit soft. As you mentioned they appear to be carved from one solid block or at least the master was anyway.

Looks like you are off to a good start on the skintone which means by your standards you can now proceed to work on the rest of the figure. :)

Lim,

This is a very good start. As I can see U learn well from our last figure painting work shop. Notice U've push some strong hilight on the face heh....

Welcome to the dark site.

Hi all

The figure is almost completed. Still need to paint the tie, collar, shirt and boots and belts.
The pants were painted in a shade of blue mixed with grey. The 1st coat of shadow had been applied. Still need to apply filter to smoothen the edges out though. Also need to apply highlights too.

Yeap, it is unfortunate that the arms are 'stuck' to the sides. Makes it a bit harder to paint.

SL,
you need to control the deer eye effect again. The pupils still look too big.
As for the basic tones, I think you are nearly there except perhaps a bit too much black on the shadows of the jacket and some secondary blending overall on the clothes.

Hello all

The figure is finally completed. I am also taking slightly more distant pics as i find the camera magnifies errors.hahaha...

Hey Lim,

It turns out quite good. I suggest you apply some hilights on the pant's folds... perhaps coat a clear satin instead of gloss on the jacket. Add some clera matt coat on those shadow area of the jacket too.

By looking at yours and Jason (PoohBear) Great coat german painting skill, U guys are truely progressing amazingly on figure painting.

Keep up the good work.
