I just bought this kit, I think it will be an interesting kit to build, the size of this kit is about the same as the WWII USS Enterprise.

Kit comes with MH-53, CH-46 and AH1-W& AV8-B.. interesting

Some modification are required on the rear hatch.

I planed to build this as a dio, so I will really need the ship building and water dio sifus help this time... please (I beg 4 help)

this one is MHM, maybe a copy, I think.

Revell (USA) did a model of the Tarawa in the early 80's, can't recall what scale.

I think in recent times, Revell Germany has reissued it, and DML has done a new one.

As for the MHM kit, guess it's a copy of the Revell kit. Even the box art looks like it was 'borrowed' from the original Revell one.

No matter what, it's a great subject for Fly Navy.

Vince,
the dio will be very challenging as water needs to flood the back of the ship...
Let's explore this further....

Here's some inspiration:
SteelNavy Saipan

You may wish to add the following accessories:
Gold Medal Models PE
Eduard figures Figures are essential in a dio, I think
JAG LAV
JAG M-60

You may wish to show an LCAC entering the rear:

That rough white water is easy to replicate.

1/700 LCACs are available in Tamiya's Ohsumi/Shimokita kits.
HLJ Model pics

Dragon also had one in their US Marine Amphibious Force set, which is very difficult to find nowadays.

Jason,

The box art that I've posted earlier is the revell kit. This is the actual box art.

squealus,

Thanks for the helpful links, will try to korek some stuff frm Mr Low this weekend.

Yes, this is the interesting part. or I can build the easy way by closing the gate/hatch, but it'll be less interesting.

I still don't dare to do any further build yet before I gather enough information.

Sorry for the wrong color of the planes, this kit was build quite some time back when I build "suka-hati"

These are the contents of the kit, there's some correction to my earlier statement, no AV8-B in this kit, only the following...

1. MH-53 x 2
2. CH-46 x 4
3. AH-W x 2
3. AAV7 x 2

my friend..this is actually a very bad kit...and i do mean very bad. i bought it before but under a different brand. the one i got is under LEE , but the contains are the same. if im not wrong i bought for 15RMB when i was in shanghai several years back..i really hated the raise lines on the deck..and the hull....
i could understand if you havent got the mood to start on this kit....its plain awful to get started

Ari,
U read my thoughts very well.... in fact I bought the kit around RM25...bad bad kit..

Tuan Hakim,
the mood has gone, planned to do an open back but the reality is, way too much effort to do that, and for me that's not really worth it... I I continue on this one, I'll just build oob, no dio. thanks for the encouragement.
