CP,

Found this site. Menara Hap Seng. On "Contacts" the address says it's at Jln P. Ramlee.

QUOTE
Set within the highly desirable and internationally acclaimed Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur, Menara Hap Seng is flanked by the majestic KLCC Twin Tower, the eminent KL Tower and the bustling presence of Bukit Bintang. This strategically located building (formerly known as MUI Plaza) was acquired in 2004 and is set to become the Group's corporate headquarters.

Ooo... I think this building is somewhere near Wisma KFC and Shangri-La hotel. Easy access via Putra LRT and KL Monorail. If I'm not mistaken lah... :D

Hi guys, some update for ya :)

Basically the ARTS festival is happenning every weekend. What takes place there is a showcase of fine arts and crafts by other outlets.

Since arts and crafts have some relevance to modelling, SFTPMS is extended an invitation to join in on the weekends and will be given a booth to man and display. The event is no different from our past roadshow campaigns to date.

For now, since its an open invite, we can jump in on any weekend. A tentative volunteer list would suffice for now until we lock down the event proper.

So, how about it, any volunteers for this campaign? :)

Sorry I am not posting to volunteer. But thought I can clarify the location of Menara Hap Seng.

It's the old Mui Plaza. Boxed in by Mercedes dealer Shi-Kiong Star, UBN Tower, Shangri-la hotel, Weld supermarket and diagonally opposite the KL Tower.

Basically if you know the cross-road junction along Jln Sultan Ismail and P Ramlee, where they have Mercedes Benz dealer (Shi Kiong Star I think) on one side, the other Life Center, then Shangri-La, and finally the Concorde Hotel/rows of clubs/discos on the last side. Menara Hap Seng is on the side of the Mercedes Benz dealer, in fact right next to the dealer building.

Warning : DON'T park in any of those buildings, the parking fee will kill you. Shangri-La parking is RM6 for 1st hour, RM3 for subsequent. Menara Hap Seng is not much better. Weld supermarket is around RM2 per hour. Park behind Life-center, on the open air carpark beside Menara Hong Leong, it's a maximum rate car-park, RM8 for whole day if I remember correctly.

Do we have space for some modelling work at the booth ? Good reason to catch up on modelling. Besides, we should be demo-ing the ART of modelling. It would be a blast if an airbrush & compressor can be set up.

I volunteer to for the weekends that I'm in town. When's it starting and how many weekends we will be there ?

WongKN,

Thanks for the parking pointers!

For those who still blur where the location is (like me!), here a map site.

Loo CK - August 8, 2008 04:11 AM (GMT)
Guys,
thanks for the enthusiasm. I will post more info when the official invitation is received via email.
From the initial discussions, there are 2 seperate elements.
1) booth ( some demo and display encouraged) and
2) exhibition room

We are invited for both. Currently the podium area is well populated by eateries and some retail and banks.

As for the parking, the basement parking charges are quite high but the open air carparks around have a flat rate parking of around RM8-10 per day.

WongKN - August 8, 2008 08:22 AM (GMT)
Hey guys,

I will be passing by the area next Monday so if you all are still blur, I can take some photos of the surrounding area and post it here so you'll know where the prominent landmarks are. But I'll be using the handphone camera so quality won't be super lar. I'll see what I can do next monday.

Dear Modellers,
As updated by the HapSeng Management Team late evening yesterday, the event will commence this weekend and they have given us the go ahead. As this is rather short notice, I have not committed anything yet but essentially, its for the booth at the moment. They have allocated 2 x 2x4' tables to us and the event starts Saturday morning (10am) until Sunday evening. Anyone out there has a weekend to spare to man the booth and display some models?

regards
CK Loo

Last update...
Received a call from the organisers that they need to revamp the whole structure of the event based on feedback received from the participants last week, and we have been requested to postpone the setting up of the booth until the event managers sort out their stuff.

Sorry to pour cold water onto the enthusiasm but will keep you guys updated.
Thanks again to BV, Kirin and Digger.......teh tarik on me. :)
