Title: Isherman Hit By Raygun
Description: Israeli scratchbuilt 1/72nd Isherman

rtfoe - July 28, 2008 05:02 PM (GMT)
Hi,

Thought you might know that my raygun was around back in '86. I saw Shep Paines Isherman and just wanted one but could only afford the smaller version then. It just so happened that they didn't have it in that scale at the time. So I scratched it from different kits available.

Look closely, it's not the 1/35th scale one I brought the other day at the Airbrush Workshop.

I used a mixture of ESCI and Fujimi kit parts.

The Fujimi kit was 1/76 in scale so I had to enlarge the wheels with plastic strip.

AAhh!!... now you can see the scale verses the HB pencil.

I remember building this and listening to the tune from "The Equiliser" TV show. Missed one or two episodes because of this.

The muzzle brake was headache...

...learnt most of my scratch building skills from this build. It was my first time using Milliput to form the turret and bustle.

Next will be the finished tank....after I touched up and brushed the dust off.
I hope this will interest the 1/72nd tankers out there.

Richard.

Okay here is the old Isherman that I built in 1986...my first major scratch built tank.

It's missing the antennas...which were broken while displayed at a shop. I'm going to replace it. The 50 calibre and pintal mount is new replacing the lost one.

Notice that the weathering is still too subtle. will darken it a little later....meanwhile enjoy the pixs.

Ish ish...nice Isherman. You sure are putting that raygun to good use.

You should compile these oldies into an article and send it in to our website.

Woah Richard, while I may still be able to barely see something in 1/72nd thanks to my magnifying glass, my clumsy, oversized fingers would not have been able to manage any of the fantastic, very fine, details you've put in. Not to mention the patience involved especially enlarging the wheels. Amazing work.

Looks super nice, scratch build somemore, and even more 1/72 scale... Wow!
Photos are so small, can post more detail photos?

Wowzers! I had just about given up on my braille-scale Pendekar build. I bet Richard has a team of trained hamsters to help him.

Adrian I think Richard has Doremon's shrinking ray gun but he might have hamsters as well. Got to get me one of those hamsters too except mine would be the one of those specialized in Search and Recovery to find all those lost parts over the years somewhere in a dark corner of my work room. :)

I thought doing my Scorpion's multiple baffle muzze brake is hard enough.

Seeing your's (in 1/72 scale!) really makes me want to set a higher standard for my scratchbuild muzzle brake.

I want to see the hamsters too.

That is one very impressive build Richard. I'm suprised on the small details you added on the armour. This makes me want to try and build one in this small scale as well. I already have the suitable candidate for my small scale scratchbuilding project just don't have the guts to start yet...

As for the hamsters, are you using the hamster from the Wonderpets show??? What about the duck and the tortoise? Didn't they feel left out?

Thanks guys...muchos gracias!!

Unfortunately I saved the pictures in a lower file so they might be a bit blurr when enlarged...Raygun can only shrink...cannot enlarge.

This is as big as I can get before pixalising.

At last as we suspected all along. No matter how good Doremon's shrinking ray gun may be you must have had additional help. :)

Eeeer......does Crunchie do Search & Recovery ah? There are at least 2 1/35 goggles, 1 PE sub rail, several hand rails, a Colt 45 and many, many more flown away parts that needs recovering from the floor/carpet monster in my work room.

Ayuh!!...Bum, you had to build on top of carpet...big mistake. Put a mesh over the vacuum tube and do some house work...you'll be surprised with what you'll find.

Hamster is on nightshift...sorry...have to strike deal with daughter for usage. :P

Richard.

Maybe you could start a hamster breeding farm and 'rent' out these critters for S&R missions. Quick way to make a buck and make CK's day. ^_^
