Here of my next scratchbuilt project....KD PERDANA....

As usual, i did not get any drawing for this subject....
From an information i was told by one of Comander KD POerdana, this FAC using PERKASA Hull. I went to HHQ to pinjam the intructions but Mr. Low did not has a stock for PERKASA but he got the 1/72 Japanese Torpedo boat. its similar, so copy the intruction to get the top and side view.

As usual i'll build the frame first, the only difrent is , as for this project i'd precut the frame.Its nothing special thou, i just try to imagine and some simple culculations to get the frame done....

This time round i used Unde coat silver instead of normal surfaceer...just want to try something new...because fro a teori, silver paint will show eve small scrathes will appear....

Finally this project has started and again, you are a very fast builder lah Naza. How long does it take for the project to reach that stage? An hour? :D

Yup ada :lol: its normal if build from scratch, its works well after a few stage sanding.


druid_99- Its very hard to lock the times lah bro because i works with a few projct in 1 go.

You Know what???? KD Perdana is not using PERKASA hull but spica class hull. :(



So i've to kiv this project first. hehehe

Takpe, the built hull you can always use it to build the Perkasa or maybe the KD Sri Terengganu which is on display at the TLDM Museum in Melaka... :lol: :lol: :lol:

yes i'd already though about it, i'll go for kd trenganu or perkasa patrol boat. :D

wow sifu... what a sweet build. i was officer in training during my first sea training period in that ship, before i onboard kd rahmat. tapi, mase aku dgn kd perdana, takder plak torpedo, cz dlm diagram hang tu, maybe dari original print. aku dah luper cerite n history kapal nie, tapi mat saleh panggil bot, cume org malaysia je panggil kapal. hahahah

Psssttt...diagram tu daripada model PT boat JMSDF.....Naza guna hull dia as basis....

yup betul.....thanks for explanations bro, tapi Kd Perdana guna hull Spica class. A latest info, its not using Spica but Combattant class which is longer 3m ++ than spica class.
I got an infoa from my friend...as for the time be , i'd spend alot of times at worksbench...i dont have enough times to google it....

So KIV this project....and i'll build a new hull soon..... ;)

Another masterpiece in the making Naza.

I never thought of dividing up the hull into several pieces and joining them. Excellent work. How thick is the styrene sheets? Pretty amazing that you don't need additional struts inside the hull to strengthen the sides to each other.

Thanks so much, I used hingh impact plastic 2mm . As for 2ft lenght hull, i think thats is quite strong with 2-3 inch distance of every frame. Its will be stronger when we start puting a big piece on top of it.

Actually this is a bit different from AHTS Boourbon Orca Technique which is i used foam and a lot of polly putty to cover the frame that i'd built in order to get the shape. This way not much on culculations but we've to play with a lot of dust....ehe...

Anyway there are alot to learn thou....and i still confusing at certain stage in the process... :(

Hi guys….yup I did a mistake …I used a wrong hull…. :(

As a plan, I’d scratch built a new hull. In order to get a measurement I’d used spica class drawing that I downloaded from web, its so small, I’ve to sketch it again to get a sharp line when I enlarge it. I’m feel good because control tower and some area of control tower very much similar to Kd. Perdana.. Btw…that’s only the side view, I’m so lucky, one of my friend sent me a combattante class drawing wif top view. Before he sent me a combattante class drawing. I’d google and found a mirage class with almost same length with Kd.Handalan. and wif better top view. So…all those 3 drawing are enough to get a confident to start wif a new hull,

So here what I’d done so far….








And managed to scratch built a few parts in rough shape….

Propeller and rescue boat….



Bofors 57mm mk.1….its still in very2 rough shape….



Its turn out something like this….

FYI….this FAC is my wish lists as well in our MGB08 Event…..wish me a luck…..

I was fortunate to catch a glimpse of this beauty in progress yesterday night and I have to say double salute to our Master Scratchbuilder. The smooth hull lines was already terra merra but when I saw the Exocet launcher pod it just blew me away. Gentlemen I kid you not, saliva melilih. :)

Bud, its too big to have it in resin.....btw in future i'll get some one who was expert in fiber casting to works with me. 1 of my friend who works with Proton design department willing to help me....just matter of times.... ;)

Vac form jee hull tu Naza... senang sikit kerja... hehehe...

Stop aircraft for a while and i'd spend sometimes with FAC....Here some update thats i've done....

I just noticed that exocet laauncher over saiz but its too late to reduce it...its too tough....and bofor 40mm gun too small, so i've to rebuild another one....








Start painting this FAC also....but still at early process.....




That all about it...see you guys....

druid....i will need a huge vacum machine to vaxform the hull....what i had now just a home use vacum machine thats suitable to make 1/72 scale canopy :D

And finally it’s done, even though with limited reference…but I’m quite happy with it….This ship with hull no. 3511 in not a KD Perdana but she is KD Handalan…..just change a number only….hahahaha
I tried my best to get as closer as I can…..well….. There is always a room to pay attentions on next build…..
It’s a very good experience as well….I was tested a few different method in this build…..

Another excellent build there Naza.

I think I have posted a few pictures of the equipments used on the TLDM ships in the reference page. Maybe you can use it for reference in future projects..

Actually this kind of models we need to make it as new as we can , because they will proud to have a clean ship. Btw i think its not a big problem if we add lillbit of blackwash and efect. Semigloss finishing also can, as long as she look clean.
