masterqq - July 18, 2008 03:10 AM (GMT)
Hi,
This is my first 1/700 waterline ship... I must say this is not really my cup of teh tarik..and a lot of new challenges for me, PE railing, rigging, Not to mention all the small parts that not going well with my fat figures.. so let's see how it turn out later..

Thomas,
good start. Just a few pointers, since I have finished 2 of mine...
1) You can spray paint the hull sub assemblies separately before you glue them on.
2) Some putty will be needed on the bow waterline area
3) Use extra thin cement.
Loo
ps: the betty will be posted to you coming monday....

guys,
Make some progress during yesterday Penang Special holiday... I followed Loo advice on the construction and I also added PE rails, I must say; my fat fingers do not agree too much with the frigile PE parts, also added my wife's hairs for the rigging... (since I'm practically botak what... :D)
Still need to make some waves a attacking Betty courtesy from my hakka bro..
This will not be in time for MGB08, but for MGB09...

Thanks Guys...
Here is more update done during merdeka holiday..

I added some waves by paperclay, the wave pattern is such that the destroyer is Cornering to the port side... apparently it is not so convincing.. I will do a batter job next time..

Painting continue by various shade of blue using oil paint..

Dry brush with white.. oil paint again..

Future it..

Then come Beachbum's water technique... the GE glue

|
Masterqq,
The Beachbum trademark GE glue, from your photo, it shows milky white.... I mean they will turn transparent when dry, right?

B,
Sorry, forgot to reply you..
the answer is yes, remember the Commie camp strike dio we did last year, Beachbum used the GE glue on the muddy river...just chang the colors of the base..
There are a few videos on this topic too, they use Gel medium, can buy from art store, I suggess you use it , and if you gonna buy it, please get extra bottle for me, I wanna try it too..
