min,
this looks really good set in the turbulent water.
The first pic is a real gem.

My only crit will probably be at the wake of the wave, though I would NOT know how to make it a bit more realistic!

Congratulations

Thanks Loo,

This was my first attempt at creating ocean swells.

Here was my inspiration:

Min,
very nice link. The water looks really dramatic. Makes me dizzy and seasick looking at it!

This is very nice... may I know what and how you make the sea and what do you use for the antenna wire..

Hi,

The sea was made using Pollyfilla laid over scrap aluminium foil from previous projects. The foil was in turn laid over scrap cardboard which provided the elevation for the ocean swells.

The Pollyfilla was then textured with crushed aluminium foil (that's where all that Al-foil came from), painted with artists acrylics (dark blue, emerald, white mix). Wave crests were painted/dry brushed white. Lastly, several coats of acrylic gloss medium were added.

Here are some pics of the process from a previous build:

Thanks... I'm currently building a 1/700 E-class destroyer, my first ship, I will use make reference to your photos and technique for the sea making later..

Good luck with your build.

BTW I used Uni-Caenis Fly tying line to rig the ship. This is finer than human hair. Its really too fine for 1/350 but ideal for 1/700. It adheres very well with the tiniest amount of superglue, has a small degree of stretch (so it won't pull your model apart) but using it might make you blind :)
