Title: Fujimi 1/24 Integra Dc5
Entau - April 8, 2008 03:36 AM (GMT)
Just bought this Integra DC5 last week, also one of my favorite car :) , but once open the box... was quite dissapointed... cant complaint cause fujimi is the only one that produce DC5, not sure got others but never seen any. Overall is still ok, but the wheel & disc brake is a bit small, some fitting problem on the lamp and bumper, rear seat compartment is emtpy, no details at all
so i decided to do few modification, here's the pics,

the wheel is small and the tire not realistic

front lamp look abit different from original

behind compartment no details

decided to cut out the green part and rebuilt the blue part, all holes to cover with mesh, never tried mod, this is the 1st time, hope can get some inputs :D

Try to get after market wheels for your DC5....I have a TopFuel DC5 by FUJ also and it comes with Advan TCII wheels...looks ok to me. :)
All the best in the front grill mod to 'Mugen' type.... ;)

i hopes everything goes well too :ph43r:
any advised? i dint really want to mod it, but i find it very hard to paint the grill and will looks fake ;)

Well, since it's a Fujimi, so don't expect much on the details. Some models from them did have good details but others are just plain bad.
Looking at your picture of the tyre, apart from the small size, it is actually a track tyre, thus explaining the lack of tyre threads. The wheels needs to be replaced with a bigger ones as well as the disk brake.
Fujimi's model kit (like this one) is usually Fujimi's try to give "variations" on their models but as usual with lack of enthusiasm. They tend to just give the standard body, interior with rear seats (none should be there on the actual car), no rollcage but with racing decals. Apart from that, they just use the rims that "looks like the ones in the picture" without getting the right size.
As for the grille, you can use PcEvo's suggestion to make it into "Mugen" type which is simpler or if ou still wants to obtain the original grill, then you can carefully cut off the green part and carefully cut off but leaving some excess near the blue part. Then you can sand off the excess and still get the Honda emblem plus the plastic in the blue area without the need to scratchbuild anything. You just need to add some plastic at the back of the grill + emblem to strengthen the area when you glue back the parts.
Hope this helps. :D

yeah, the wheel is not up to the scale, and whole car is just a road car with racing decal
probably i will cut out the entire 'V' part then slowly sand till i get the emblem and the blue part as it will b quite difficult to cut around only the green part, if i fail maybe i will tried mugen type then, thanx for the tips B)

Cool car to build. As usual Fujimi kits lack details as what Druid says. It could be an interesting built if you do make some sort of scratch build and modfication. Keep up the good work there. Like the idea given by Druid on the grill part. give it a shot!

ericmaxman - May 12, 2008 12:13 PM (GMT)
@Entau.
To take good shots, try going under direct sunlight. Handphone cams can work best like that. If you want to use indoor, set it to night mode, and use a tripod.

ayoi - July 2, 2008 10:19 AM (GMT)
wow nice dc5.. B)
entau where u get the flat red?
r u using spray can or air brush??m
Entau - July 2, 2008 10:33 AM (GMT)
er.. i initially use acrylic Mr. Hobby Flat Red, but the paint chip easily, so i strip it after touch up also looks ugly and repaint using airbrush with Mr. Color Red(Gloss) mix with abit flat base, and the result is much smoother :D
snakeripper - July 2, 2008 04:29 PM (GMT)
entau..what white u use for that dc5? it is pure white..?
Kenneth - July 3, 2008 01:11 AM (GMT)
