Guys, while browsing the Armorama website, I found this link --> http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2007/04/tank-accidents.html. Worth checking out, especially for those who do dioramas.

I have been thinking about a 1/35 Godzilla or Gamera diorama using maybe a JGSDF Type 90, or any of the many JGSDF vehicles released by Trumpeter in the last few years.

Don't need a 1/35 monster, just a couple AFV's a diorama base with a huge footprint shaped crater or two.

The guns of the AFV's would be at maximum elevation, as if firing at something 'tall'. Crew figures are optional, but they should be looking skywards.

A flattened or 'stepped on' AFV or vehicle would also be added in the dio to emphasize the gravity of the problem facing the troops.

What do you all think?

Yeah man, thats a great idea. When this dio finished and put on a table while you standing infront, this will make you become the monster of the story.

Imagine, all the soldiers are looking at you, all the gun, the rocket launcher is aiming at you... instead of a foot print of a monster, why dont we just put a foot print of us? The dio wil be more hilarious if the foot print is done by a Nike boots.

It's a pretty good idea and Kirin's perspective of it is even better. Imagine staring down at them helpless fellas. Very interesting. That's what dios are supposed to do.

Richard.

It will be good if some one take the lead... Can you, Richard? I can take this as a chances to open all my JGDF, which are now collecting spider web...

I think if can, we make this as a year-end dio display for our SFTPMS...

xamel1975 - April 3, 2008 10:11 AM (GMT)
Great idea there, Jason. KIRIN's additional idea add humor to it. Personally, I would put a 'selipar jepun' (literally put 1 piece there!) instead of Nike footprint.

The link provided do give some ideas to replace the dull and boring modern tank setup.

I just remember something... Tamiya do have 1/35th dinosaur kits don't they? Jurassic Park, anyone? :D

If you guys want to take it further, then how about trying to cast a shadow of a foot about to flatten a tank, and some of the tank crew bailing out / running for safety.

Need a glass case, a 'cut-out' shaped like a foot and a lamp to cast the shadow.

I'd rather keep it to established creatures like Godzilla or Gamera - more appeal than anyone of us, even if we were larger than life?

rtfoe - April 3, 2008 10:41 AM (GMT)
Casting a shadow with light is one way to go but have you thought of painting the shadow in.... That would be a challenge using the airbrush and masking.

Richard.

Sorry to be a party pooper Guys but the Resource section is mainly for reference material (i.e. actual photos of the tank, vehicle, plane, etc, specs, how-to-do) so I'm afraid this will have to be moved to the Diorama section for continued discussion although the photos would make very good reference for how tank accidents appear in real life.

All discussions so far and the link is highly appreciated.

f-4dablemodels - April 7, 2008 12:35 PM (GMT)
Sorry to seem rude, but according to the thread, it was my suggestion.

But yes, Kirin, do get the ball rolling.

Poopeh - April 8, 2008 03:05 AM (GMT)
I suggest there to be an in flight cannon shell flying towards the Godzilla/viewer

wah... so sayang to "korban" the Merkava... but i think should be ok since i believe their Merkava dont really have the accurate turret anyway... so the Academy ones should be ok to "korban" :)

awaiting for blackheart to surface his project from the link

Mini dio project from the link in progress :D

While we're on the topic, I watched Saving Private Ryan on HBO and saw the scene where the wall collapsed. Revealing the Germans are on the other side of the wall, then, both party screaming at each other telling the other to put down their weapons.

I think that'll make an interesting dio :D. The hard part is to depict the intensity of the American and Germans screaming at each other.

Another one is at the end part when the P-51 arrived and blew up the Germans. Captain Miller (Tom Hanks) died by the motorcycle as Private Ryan (Matt Damon) looks on. The title can be called something like "James, earn this...earn it".

Yup..I love that scene..theres a kettenkrad and a bicycle on the bridge..and Private Ryan screaming.. ^_^ I think SMM master diorama easily can build it :D
