Title: Ford Mustang Mach Iii
Description: learning to shine
Bomber Vince - March 17, 2008 06:21 AM (GMT)
I've stripped the paint with brake fluid, and apply the first layer of primer. I will use this kit as a stepping stone to my dream of building a bling bling car.
I'm using the industrail primer with gunze thinner, ok so far.

there's still some melted marks left from previous spray coz i use industrail spraycan

wet-sanded again with 2000 grade sandpaper.
this time I will follow all the neccesary steps to build a bling-bling car.
all car sifus out there, u are welcome to comment and "cucuk" me anytime.
Auto-vince..... sign out.

You're off to a great start BV. Never seen a Mustang Mach III before so I'll be waiting to see this complete.
After wetsanding with 2000 grit sandpaper, better check the surface and make sure it is smooth. To be sure just make sure you have sanded everything because even a speck of dust will be very visible on the finishing.
It looks like the car is ready for a coat of white primer before the actual paint. What colour are you planning on this car?
Bomber Vince - March 17, 2008 07:19 AM (GMT)
Imran,
U mean I still need a white primer? never use it before.... still an amature in the car industry. I have not decide any color yet, any recomendations?
this is arevell kit I bought many years ago in toys r us.
So far I have silver, yellow, copper and black cars build. will try some color that I don't have.
Entau - March 17, 2008 07:27 AM (GMT)
i think if u plan to painted it black or silver, white primer is not neccesary, other colors will need white primer :D . correct me if im wrong
druid_99 - March 17, 2008 07:33 AM (GMT)
Well, it depends actually.
If you want to build bright coloured cars, I would suggest you to use white primer as grey primer will darken the overall colour (especially yellow and others).
Other than that, grey primer is sufficient.
P/S: You can also substitute the white primer with white paint. Just make sure it does not react with the bright coloured paints.
Bomber Vince - March 17, 2008 08:09 AM (GMT)
thanks entau and Imran, will try that.
Bomber Vince - March 19, 2008 03:08 AM (GMT)
ok, some udate... advice from sifu... no need white primer if u are spraying black or metalic color.
I choose metalic blue....(since i don't have this color)

I just campur all theese colors....

the ride is bit too hight, any tips to lowered the car?

If you can show me the picture of the front and rear assembly, I might be able to help you on how to lower the ride height.
P/S: New set of tyres and rims will look much better on this car.
Kenneth - March 19, 2008 03:48 AM (GMT)
Not a bad mixed of colours! ;) With a few layers of clear coats and some compound rubbing. I am sure it will bring out the juice of the colour! Oh! is this a Monogram kit? Looks like it some snap it! stuff. :D
Bomber Vince - March 19, 2008 03:58 AM (GMT)
Imran,
ok thanks I'll take some pics tonite. ya, I'll dig up some tyres from my junkyard, but I need to modify those rims to fit coz most of them are Tamiya rims.... curtesy of sifu kenneth.
Kenneth
Yup, it's a monogram kit, but not a snap fit one.... skill level 2.
I've stop auto modeling for bout a year after the nsx tragedy.... but now I'm taking a break from military sruff.
Bomber Vince - March 20, 2008 02:44 PM (GMT)

The stock rims are replaced with theese, the front and back are diffrent brand... mmm... this is common among street cars right?

New rims sure looks better.

the suspensions.

First layer of clear coat sparyed.
druid_99 - March 21, 2008 01:11 AM (GMT)
You're using Skyline rims with that? Good choice. Looks much better.
I think the with the new rims, the car does not need any more lowering.
But in case you stilll want to lower it, for the front suspension you can add a bit of plastic underneath the areas of the disk brake assembly. Shown below is the areas that needs to be modified. Below it is a simple sketch I've done, As I'm not sure how the set-up really like, I'm assuming it's like the usual assembly.

Hope this helps.
Bomber Vince - March 24, 2008 03:37 AM (GMT)
Wow... thanks imran, U really pro. will try that tonight.
YGTan - March 24, 2008 05:15 AM (GMT)
Very nice color BV.
BTW, how's the fit of this kit? any problem?
Bomber Vince - March 24, 2008 05:32 AM (GMT)
so far ok, but the engine is bit too simple compared to tamiya
Bomber Vince - October 20, 2008 03:23 PM (GMT)
hehe, it's been hmmm...7 months??

Entau - October 21, 2008 06:10 AM (GMT)
icic..roughly how much pearl did u put? is the pearl effect visible or doesnt make any diff at all?
klay - October 21, 2008 07:22 AM (GMT)
BV, i realise ur custom blue becomes deeper in color, looks more appealing to me now
is it bcoz after top coat the color tone will turn deeper? coz ur's is very significant change.. or is it bcoz of photography setting ;) ?
btw.. now only i realise u r using industrial primer.
results looks good :)
i've use dove grey oxide primer and it failed below my expectation <_<
any brand for recommendation :D ?
Bomber Vince - October 21, 2008 12:48 PM (GMT)
Entau,
The pearl really makes difference, as for the ratio, me just "agak agak".
Klay,
It looks deeper after the clear coat. I'm using Anchor primer, de-can it and spray with airbrush.
klay - October 22, 2008 02:44 AM (GMT)

druid_99 - October 30, 2009 01:51 AM (GMT)
Waa... the shine looks good... Love the wheel choice as well but the colour might need to be changed lah... Yellow and blue matches but the yellow on the rim will look better if it is just the lips. I suggest the center to be either silver, chrome, gun metal or black. My opinion lah... :D
Bomber Vince - November 1, 2009 03:58 AM (GMT)
wheels not painted yet, planning to paint it smoked gold.
