Title: X-wing
Description: 1:72 Fine Molds
Bomber Vince - September 21, 2007 01:53 AM (GMT)

Just Completed the build during TV time, I build this kit when watching TV, just can't stop building. The build was easy and straight forward, fits perfectly.

But there's one problem, the wings doesn't close well, I've tried sanding the inner plastic but it won't works

The kit provided both landing and flight mode, I think I'll choose the flight mode due to the wings.
I'm not a Star Wars fan but I like X-wing, I'll build the Luke version, I think it's Red 4.
I have zero reference on the color and I need fellow Jedi's help.
TQ.

Nice build you got there. I love X-wing and I got an AMT model kit of it (1/48 scale by measurement) but never got to finishing it.
One tip for you in order to get the wings close. Other than gluing the wings together, you can use some thin wire and wrap on the end of the wing (around the thing protruding out at the tip of the wing). You can also use tali pancing (provided you can get the thinnest). Just a suggestion though. I will be using that on my X-wing (I'm building it in a landing position as well).
As for the colour, the ones indicated in the instruction is accurate and if you want to build Luke's X-Wing, you have to use the red marking with 4 lines which indicated Red 4. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi, Vince,
Some reference here from Starship Modeler -
Star Wars Hardware Reference and some weathering tips -
Weathering: One Modeler's ApproachMaybe you should buy 3 more and build this -

Luke's X-wing is Red-5. So that's 5 red stripes on the wings. I think the spirals on the guns are different for each fighter and that Red-5 didn't have any?
If I recall correctly, Red-4 is Biggs and Red-2 is Wedge.
Some one can correct my SW trivia if I got it wrong.

Some update.

Preshaded with tamiya black

the all black method were used in heavy shadowed area.

The light grey is a mixture of Gunze 11 and Testors flat white.

Most of the details came out after the light grey coat.

More progress.

Just finished decaling, the whole process took me at least 6 hours.

95% of those tiny-winy dots are individual decals, must be patien fellow jedi!

Some oil wash to brings up the details.

overview after oil wash.
