Title: Detail pictures: Twin Barrel Canon
Description: Excursion to TLDM Museum

druid_99 - July 23, 2007 04:20 AM (GMT)
Hi guys, as mentioned in my "Excursion to TLDM Museum" thread, this is some pictures that I've taken on a twin barrel canon displayed at the museum. I'm not sure of the name, so I just put it as it is.

If you guys have any information on this (the name would be great), please feel free to chip in. I'll let the pictures do the talking...

Overall shot of the canon.

That's all that I have. Sorry if there are some blurry pictures, I was running out of time (got to go back to KL the same day) and also running out of battery juice...

Yes, it is a Mk19 mount..although it could come from an earlier Hang Tuah....

It should be from the earlier Hang Tuah(or other ships).. :D as the current hang tuah is still in sevice...

Thanks for the information Kerastangan and F100supersabre. Now maybe the Mods can edit the title for me.

Sunnyboy: The TLDM Museum is located in Malacca town itself. It is on the opposite side of the replica of a Portugese (I think) ship.

IIRC the 4" mount of the Hang Tuah (F76) has been replaced with a Bofors 40mm. SO the 4" turret at the museum could still come from the current Hang Tuah.

is it? Well, i guess i'm out-of date. Anyway, in my opinion, there wouldn't be much difference for that ship as it's now a training ship..

i thought TLDM base is at lumut, so the museum also there as well....

I've read somewhere that it was previously located at Lumut but was moved to Malacca.

nice pics

to be exact, the TLDM museum located in Bandar Hilir, Malacca. Somewhere across the Stadhuys (just a walking distance from those red colored building..) on the way to Padang Pahlawan, or Malacca Parade... located across the museum samudera (the Flora De Lamar portugesee ship)
i think this TLDM museum is new in Malacca. Along the streets there are several other museums in fact all building in this vicinity have been converted into museum. with the exception of the Malacca Police HQ on the east side of the TLDM museum...
