We have now confirmed that the venue for the Merdeka event shall be at MyscififanOutpost, Cineleisure, KL. running concurrently from 25th( 11am)-26th (5pm). The proprietor, Richard, is keen to hold a modelling workshop/clinic and I do suggest we have one running in the afternoon of the 25th. Volunteers?

For the northern members/participants, it is unlikely that I will need to get the kits earlier than 25th but it would be good to do the setup on 24th night. Alternatively before 10.30am on the 25th will be the latest for the kits to arrive. The map of the location will follow soon after this posting.

The Merdeka group build exhibition will feature MERDEKA: BEFORE AND AFTER,
a timelime commentary of how the birth of the nation came to being and our journey thereafter. All kits which are related can be displayed. Please give me prior notice of what your volunteered kits are so that we can thread in the connection. This will be a museum like exhibition with possibly some visuals in powerpoint, etc....Advance pics are welcomed as I will need to set up the AV materials early.

second: MyScifiFanOutpost event room is a rather secured event room and security should not be a problem. SFTPMS will do whatever it can to protect and secure all volunteered kits but we are in no financial position to secure insurances for the masterpieces. Please bear with us on this and we look forward to receiving the displays, nevertheless. This gesture will go a long way to promote oour wonderful hobby to the Malaysian public.

@Loo, will it be suitable if we talk with the Cineleisure management and occupy the lower ground area, just right infront of a few comic and video game shop. I do remmeber I run a few event for my client at that area. That space is actually at a lower demand, but if we put some PA system, invite some media (like what I did) and have some promoter girl (not advise in this event :lol: ) I sure we can still attract a lot of crowd. :rolleyes:

Who can help with kit transport from Klang to the venue.....and back Don't think I can manage it myself.....like 3 glass cases and 2 loose items.......any ideas?

Try to be present on the display hours as it would be great to have all participants around especially when visitors come and they can get very curious about the subjects which some of us may not be 'well equipped' to answer.... :lol:

Guys, on the subject of displays, the society will make available 6 huge perspecs covers ( those recovered from the property developer warehouse raid!property developer warehouse raid!) for the loose kits without their individual covers. They are close to 3' x 3' x1.5' high. There will also be some smaller ones of various sizes.

Please be reminded to spare some time and prepare the information placards. Contact Aidy for the format.

Just fyi, when I run the event early in the 2007, was sponsor by Cineleisure, its totally free... May be, Cineleisure just open and not much crowd that time.

For the sake of business P&C, I cant really provide you the detail. But, during my negotiation stage with their management, I do lay a few benefit for them, here are some hints

1. Put them as one of the main sponsor in our event. Mean, their name and company logo will appear on all our A&P props, including banner or bunting, if any.

2. Promise them, their name will be seen throught out Malaysia. Provided we have sufficient media cover.

3. Project a rough figure on the calculation of the crowd that day, let them know, this is a big event, the first model event in Malaysia that the main theme is "Merdeka Day"
