Title: 50th Merdeka GB: Model Info Placards
Description: Post your proposals!
aidy - June 20, 2007 09:06 AM (GMT)
I hope the mods don't mind me starting a thread for this. Come on guys, let's get creative! We need info placards for the Merdeka show, so post your format proposals here.
The specs suggested by Loo:
- A5 sized
- shows a pic of the real hardware
- a few words on the subject (blind text OK for proposals here)
So, to get the ball rolling, here's my feeble attempt:

More to come...
Come on guys, show us what you've got!
druid_99 - June 20, 2007 09:27 AM (GMT)
Great start there Aidy. Now I need to think of a write-up for my Ferret, F-5E and Aermacchi... <_<
Loo CK - June 20, 2007 12:36 PM (GMT)
great start Aidy. Exactly what I was thinking about
masterqq - June 21, 2007 01:03 AM (GMT)
Good one Aidy..
Guys,
So we gonna do 1 for each Models type right... Like if there are 5 Skyhawks, we only need to do 1 Placard, right...
aidy - June 21, 2007 01:28 AM (GMT)
Good question, Thomas. Will find out from Loo.
Anyway, here's one more...

It's the only overall-ish view of the PTM in my hard disc, so sorry la...
druid_99 - June 21, 2007 01:35 AM (GMT)
Hehehe... good one Aidy... even got a modeller modeling in front of the Skyhawk.... :D
beachbum - June 21, 2007 02:03 AM (GMT)
Excellent Aidy. Your placard suggestion has everything and personally I think it will make an excellent template for all of us. The basics are all there in your placard such as:
1. A nice photo of the real thing
2. A writeup
3. SFTPMS name
The only thingy I can think of adding is perhaps add the SFTPMS webpage which should be up by then and/or at least the email address and perhaps the modeler's name.
masterqq - June 21, 2007 03:27 AM (GMT)
I like Aidy design, I think it is batter for us to standardize this placard design.
Aidy we need :
1) what do you use to design the placard, any software, can you send the soft copy of the design to us, we will modify with our photos and write up.
2) Or we send the photo and write up to u, and u put it together.
CK Loo,
3) Can we send the completed design to you for print out.
kuman - June 21, 2007 03:54 AM (GMT)
:D
agreed with what masterqq said.. :D

just a word of caution, if anyone plan to use photos from downloaded from the net of copy from a book, you might want to check on the copyright of the picture. Just in case la :) :)
Loo CK - June 21, 2007 05:17 AM (GMT)
yes, I can do all the printing. Do send them to me. In fact, if there are multiple copies of the same aircraft, you can always do your own placard and I will edit if neccessary. One thing to add: "model by :XXXXXXX"
I want your individual names mentioned if you guys do not mind.
Good ones so far Aidy, Keep it up.

Hence my not using any of Steinemann's superb RMAF photos. The Hawk pic is from a series of publicity pics from BAe (IIRC). I don't claim to have their permission, though. The 2nd pic is obviously mine lah.
Loo/guys,
Is it possible for SFTPMS to request for some pics from the Ministry of Defence of the RMAF for this event? Would be nice if they are willing to chip in.
If there's not going to be any other proposals, I'll edit mine to include what Beachbum and Loo suggested. I've got the template done in Illustrator, will see if I can do it in the more widely available MS Word.
I don't mind doing them for you guys, though. You can send me the pics or whatever to aidyabdullah(a)yahoo.com (substitute tha (a) accordingly la).
Bud Bilko - June 22, 2007 12:48 AM (GMT)
Aidy,
I can pass you some of my own collection of Hawks on ground and flying. No copyright issue here as these were taken from my camera. Only to mention GohKL80. That's all mate!!
Sarge.
masterqq - June 22, 2007 01:14 AM (GMT)
Yah..
There are some photos from the Alor star base visit taken by me in forum somewhere... you could use those too..
kuman - June 22, 2007 01:37 AM (GMT)

i think i'm going to need those for my MIG :D
and also you guys can use the Hornet pics i took earlier as well.. :D
thanks in advance

aidy - June 27, 2007 02:42 AM (GMT)
Macam ni ke, Druid?

Still have to look for information on the thing. Will properly update once I do.
druid_99 - June 27, 2007 02:46 AM (GMT)
Correct... macam tu... sorry lah, I've searched through the net but not much info available... (On the Malaysian Harimau 2000 lah... on the Ferret, there's a lot but not on Malaysia usage)

Regarding the Placards...
in what format do you want to receive it Loo? in Adobe Illustrator format or we can convert them to pdf and send them to you in pdf format... but if you want to edit the pdf format nee to use Acrobat Professional/Standard.. :D
i got 1 completed and another 3 in the process.. just wondering only...
so whats the dateline for us to send in the placards because i believe you'll need sometime to print and edit these cards..
please advise...
BTW.. this is mine.. :D for the MKM

Loo CK - August 10, 2007 06:43 AM (GMT)
Guys,
I highly likely will not edit any of the text because you guys will know more on the subject than me. Do proofread them and send them to me if you are unable to do the printing. Preferably by next week so there is no bottleneck to print them. Any format will do but pdf/word preferred. converting them to a hi res jpeg will also work.
thanks
Loo
Target_J - August 13, 2007 12:46 AM (GMT)
Loo,
I have sent a file containing the UN flag to your email. My little contribution to this project.
Those who want it can PM me their email add.
