Title: 1/400 Heller Richelieu

squealus - June 15, 2007 04:12 PM (GMT)
Here are some pics of my most recent build, the Heller Richelieu. This was built (rather frantically) over a 4 week period to be ready for the Australian IPMS Model Expo.

At this point I stopped taking WIP photos as I was seriously short of time.

I also had a dilemma when I realized belatedly that my intended camouflage paint scheme (a complicated patchy US Measure 32) was no longer worn by the time the Richelieu had received her full radar fit (as I had constructed). She was wearing a rather boring Admiralty Fleet Scheme at that stage. In the end, after tossing and turning in bed for a couple of nights, I decided to use "artistic license" and finish her in her unique Measure 32 scheme.

I'll post close ups later but at the moment I'm too afraid to get close to the model again after breaking off the front jackstaff once, rear jackstaff twice, SA radar 3 times and 10 40 mm gun barrels.......

After trying my hands on the POW, I really have to give you ship builders a 21 gun salute..

SALUTE.....

Hi
The model came first in the large powered ship category, but the competition was light. Only 2 other entries....:(
