Title: 50th Merdeka GB: MIFV
Description: UN Version

masterqq - June 14, 2007 02:35 AM (GMT)
Guys,

In support of the Merdeka Ground Ops... I gonna rework my MIFV that left undone some 8 years ago..

Being not much of an Armor guy, the original work was horrible, a lot of parts alignment are out, sink marks not filled, and the original paint job was too thick caused the plastic to slightly melt..... :(

This is how I left it..

I decided to take this opotunuity to finish this one for the Merdeka GB.. so First I shot a layer of surfacer hope to reduce some of mistake… then, I shot some preshade...as this..

what do you think

Well done Thomas. Nice subtle weathering and not easy to do considering its against a white basecoat. This will be a very nice addition to increase the ground forces which is pretty skinny right now.

Master Thomas,

this is a good for the road! well done. How about another land based vehicle or diorama? I remember you had a British infantry dio not too long ago for WW2?

PoohBear - July 3, 2007 04:34 AM (GMT)
Nicely finished, Thomas. Well done. :)

kuman - July 3, 2007 04:42 AM (GMT)
coming a long nicely.. :D

so this guy is going to the Merdeka GB then.. :D

question...

what color do you use for the basecoat before you spray the white? or just the pre-shading with black will do...

i heard painting the white camo is a challenging process to make it "real"

Guys, Thanks for liking my MIFV.. Indeed this is gonna be my first completed AFV.. And I had built a few AFVs some years ago but never get to the same stage as this build.

CK loo,
Another diorama... let me see If I can come out with something or not... still have no idea on what to do yet..

Kuman,
Yah!! this guy gonna join the Merdeka GB Ground Force..
and I spray the surface 1000 as the base coat, this help to cover some of the unevenness n the surface (mistake done earlier). then I spray black as the preshade, and finally spray with Mr white base.... this again help to cover the unevenness on the surface. this mr white base is really strong white color, It gave me a very good result as compare to the normal gunze white paint I use. for the weathering, I do the oil wash with Raw umber and follow with black. to creat that rain mark effect on the body, I put a very diluated black oil paint dot on the body, and quiclky pull it down with the brush... :D

Last thing to do is maybe add the antenna....

Masterqq,

Nicely done! :D Looks better than mine. ;)

Cheers!

Masterqq,

Good work on the weathering! I particularly like the shading and the heavy oil and dirt stains on the wheels. Appreciate the tips on how to get the rain marks. This will come in handy when I start my MIFV project!

Tom,

You are too modest.

The finished work looks quite expertly done.

overall very nice build bro, the inner hull of the commander is not yet painted right?

masterqq - July 4, 2007 10:03 AM (GMT)
Guys.. thanks again..

Bomber,
inner hull of the commander was indeed painted during the first build ( Some 8 years ago, and back then I even forgot to put in the steering.... :P ), And I gonna close all the doors for this one.. ( That is after seeing Poohbear excellent work.. :D )

masterqq - July 9, 2007 01:40 AM (GMT)
And the final bits are on.. I made a removable antenna so that I can remove antenna for easy storage and transport later. the antenna bushing was a cotton bud's rod, and I use the end of my old E-6 Guitar string as an antenna... the idea is the guitar string is removable from the bushing..

Whit this done, I will determine If I need a flat coat later.

i know nuts about musical instruments thats why i was wondering.. which size of the guitar string you use? there are 6 strings on a guitar right?so which is the most appropriate for our Armor needs?

thanks

Just go to any guitar shop and ask for the finest guitar string. All of the guitar shops should have it.

masterqq - July 9, 2007 07:16 AM (GMT)
guys,

Sorry, wrong info, it was the thickest guitar string I used... :D This is a string that I seldom change on my guitar..It have this steel wire with wire coil around it to make it to the required thickness. I will see it I can take a batter photo later.

kerastangan,
u spotted that Steyr ha.. :D I is a resin cast, that I mail order it from Aust many years ago. but the casting detail is not very good.

Loo CK - July 10, 2007 05:14 AM (GMT)
Thomas, I am thinking of making a base for all the MIFV in UN white. There should be 4 of them including yours. Are you OK to park this in?
