Ayoi,
Why do you mask the seats and the door panel inserts prior to painting? Won't it be easier to paint on the red on the inserts and then mask them before painting the black? I think there will be no paint difference as the colour black will totally mask off all the red that is oversprayed.
Another thing I'd like to highlight. I think it will improve the look of the interior if you drill out the seatbelt holes on the front seats. Just my two cents though. ;)

:o omg.. wrong step for masking..poor me.. TQ druid_99 maybe on upcoming model will do it.. where to get flat red (spray can)???? tis is my 1st time using PE set.. how to stick it to model? is it using cement???
druid_99 - June 26, 2007 03:26 AM (GMT)
No problem.
As for the flat red in a spraycan, sorry, I don't know where to get it. I've been using airbrush all the time... prior to airbrush, I only handpaint the interior and spraycan the exterior.
To stick the photo-etch (PE) parts, the best will be using superglue. Put some on a scrap plastic or paper or anything and pick a small amount each time using toothpick to apply at the PE parts.
Hope this helps. ;)
ayoi - June 26, 2007 04:12 AM (GMT)
superglue???? where to get it???
i will handpaint using tamiya flat red (bottle) ;)

Super glue is CA glue or widely known as "gam gajah".
kalam2b - June 26, 2007 06:56 AM (GMT)
Hihihi.. it's quite sometime didn't hear people call it 'Gam gajah @ Gam cap gajah".
Anyway, nice progress u did there. really turn out very well. For me, masking is the most most most tidieous and laziest part :) . I've done a few experiment 4 making flat red and one it of by using tamiya italian red (gloss). Just spray it in cold temperature( during rain or in aircond). and comes out quite ok. Or, right after u spray the paint, put the seat or the interior in your freezer. anyway the result turn-out 50-50, sometime acceptable and sometime dust-bintable! :)
ayoi - June 26, 2007 10:02 AM (GMT)
hahaha ok i got it!!! gam gajah rite?? hehehe
kalam_2b if you said 50-50 thats too risky lor.. :P

clean and neat...nice! i think it'll look more stunning if u weather the undercarriage a bit, just my 2 cents. :)

how to do that??
kalam2b - July 5, 2007 09:27 AM (GMT)
As I'm aware, there are two famous ways to do it. First is by dry brushing technique and second is wash technique.
May be our SIfus in this forum can help you out. I've tried dry brushing but the results are not to my expectation (still learning ma :) ) . As at now I'm only confident with wash technique and dry sanding technique.
YGTan - July 5, 2007 09:41 AM (GMT)
Very nice progress Ayoi. I usually do a wash on the undercarriage with black. Bring out the detail better, and add more depth to the undercarriage.
Keep up the great build.

This thread is really good for us car modeller beginners. Keep the good work bro...
