can anyone tel me what sftpms means please and where do i signup?

Argrillion - September 1, 2006 02:10 AM (GMT)
SFTPMS stands for Selangor And Federal Territory Plastic Modelling Society. It's an officially registered society with Government of Malaysia. Membership is open to public but shall meet the minimum age requirement. For interested students of schools and higher education institutes / universities, we suggest to get your parents/spouse to registered.

modelstarter - September 1, 2006 03:55 AM (GMT)
as in my parents sign up for me?

Argrillion - September 1, 2006 09:04 AM (GMT)
Modelstarter, we are not saying that you parents should sign-up for you. Our constitution doesn't allow representative membership. However, your parents can sign-up for members but pass the benefits to you.

Hope you understand how we interpret the law.

modelstarter - September 1, 2006 09:08 AM (GMT)
thank you argrillion

after we sign up then where do we send info?and then what happens?

(have to wait a while to get membership my parents are still  over the price of my hobby) :(

Argrillion - September 1, 2006 09:13 AM (GMT)
This hobby is not cheap but it does keep you close to them physically. Perhaps the SFTPMS President should have a word with your parents. We do have some parents who has sat down with us and watch us teach little ones as young as 9 years old.

As fot the application form, you can complete it and pass it back to us when we have meet next time.

modelstarter - September 1, 2006 09:57 AM (GMT)
thanks but not all parents are the same

they like me to model because it keeps me of computer games :D

but my academic results are poor and they want me to spend more time on school not modelling

so the application form will have to wait :( because my school starts this monday :(

koowilliams - September 4, 2006 02:17 AM (GMT)
this might not be in my business but i like to know about the ROS rules...

student are only allowed to join the society when parent signup for them - does that apply to student of all ages? or student under 18?

Loo CK - September 4, 2006 05:39 AM (GMT)
Koo,
students are only allowed to register if they get permission from the college/Uni.
Under 18 individuals who are not students can only register with their parent's consent. So a person who has just set for say A levels, over 18 and technically not registered with any school is now an individual and needs parental consent.

modelstarter - September 5, 2006 07:53 AM (GMT)
 i got permission to join so i just have to print out the form and my parents fill it up and thats it? :)

Argrillion - September 5, 2006 08:15 AM (GMT)
Yes, Modelstarter. Just make sure your e-mail address is in the form.

Is just that I am not sure when will we meet, I do not mind mailing the payment cheque to your personal account for this purpose. Anyway, just a proposal, it is up to the management decision.

Cheers! I have just restarted this plastic modelling again after stopping for 3 years, and I feel just great!

WongKN - March 1, 2007 11:13 AM (GMT)
Ah this is just nice. Kenny, I've wanted to join SFTPMS for some time now and emailing the form is the most convenient method for me. My main question is how to deal with the need for a signature in the form ? Do I just leave that blank and email the completed form in ? I don't think I'll be able to make the Mar 11th date and I would like to send my application in as early as I can.

Argrillion - March 1, 2007 12:12 PM (GMT)
Hello Wong:

Just send your application form to the society's e-mail account without a signature. However, it be be great to have scan form with your signature on it.

Anyway, PM me if you have any further questions.

Argrillion - March 2, 2007 01:15 AM (GMT)
Please take note SFTPMS Treasurer Jason Cheah will be at HHQ, City Square Centre, Kuala Lumpur, on SAT 3 March 2007 (sometime after lunch). Membership applications forms can be submitted to him on that day.

Kind of off but almost on topic. Its that time of the year again where:

"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for it (or her if you prefer)"

and one of my personal favorites,

" I regret that I have but one life to give to my country"

For some strange reason, these recruitment thingies always set off such thoughts in my mind which is usually crammed with thoughts of how to avoid real work. To my illustrious comrade, Jason, Holder of the Order of Ham Chin-Peng with Oak leaves, 1st. Grade, "Expect No Quarter, Take No Prisoners (or in this case no bad cheques)". :)

phyzann - March 5, 2007 07:18 AM (GMT)
err...

apa beza Ordinary Member & Associate Member?

aku keje area Melawati & umah kat kawasan Jinjang, berdekatan ngan kepong...

Argrillion - March 5, 2007 07:20 AM (GMT)
Ordinary Members are for modellers residing in Selangor and Federal Territory. Associte Members are for members residing elsewhere but in Malaysia.

Jac - March 14, 2007 04:10 PM (GMT)
Would like to know, what's the difference between Ordinary/Associate Members vs one that's in this Forum..? In term of benefit wise perhaps..?
