Title: White metal kit painting session
Description: who is interested?
Loo CK - July 17, 2006 09:44 AM (GMT)
Hello one and all,
By now, those who were at TU for Tamiya Challenge would recognize Geneive Chong, one of our respectable judges.
What most of you probably do not know is that Genieve is considered a grand master on white metal kit construction and painting among other modelling skills.
Those who are interested to know more about this medium is invited to state your interest here in this posting so that we can gauge the response to have Geneive to conduct a workshop.
Pen away.....

As Loo mentioned Gentlemen and 1 Lady this is an excellent opportunity that doesn't come by everyday especially when you consider the scale and level of detail of the figures Geneive works with. Not to mentioned that she has volunteered her valuable time to help the Society as well.
For those who have seen some of the fantastic work posted in the link to CoolMiniOrNot which I posted in the Diorama section you can appreciate the intricate work done by similar artists which are definitely in a class of their own.
So let not this opportunity go to waste.

We will inform you the things to bring once we get enough modellers for the class. It is most likely going to be a demo session for the start followed-by workshops in the running weeks.
Well, some modellers need the time to get the tools (esp. W&N Fine Sable Brushes) for workshops.

Hmmm...do I detect a subtle undercurrent in that remark my sand eating buddy?
Target_J - July 18, 2006 02:51 AM (GMT)
Hi guys,
I'm absolutely clueless when it comes to figure painting. Would painting white metal figs be similar to regular plastic or resin figs?
Echoing RX-78-2, what are the tools necessary?
I'd definitely be interested to have a look (time and venue permitting).
Argrillion - July 18, 2006 03:01 AM (GMT)
Like any other figure painting, you would need brushes, acrylics and Jalan Pasar overhead lamps. All the necessary tools will be highlighted in the first meet with Genieve. Much like Allan's demo in IKANO.
beachbum - July 18, 2006 03:01 AM (GMT)
Jeremy if you're refering to the type of paints and equipment then they are likely to be similar. As I've yet to work on mine having not done any white metal figs todate I wouldn't be able to tell you much on the approach but from what I've read so far its not much different. Perhaps when Arg contacts Genieve we will be able confirm the finer details.
RX I'm not sure what metal figs we will be bringing so don't worry about the costs, not yet anyway. :D
As Loo said we need to have enough support for this workshop before the small details are worked out so come on Gentlemen don't let this go.
RX can you get in touch with Becky as I'm sure she would like to join in as well?

Once we get closer to 10, its a go!.
Quite similar to resin/plastic kits sans the preparatory work, this session should be beneficial to all who at least do figure painting in their respective preferred genre.
Planes have pilots,
AFVs have commanders
Figures have figures!
Gundams have cute little anime with voluptous...... eyes.
Ships have got PE and superglued heads. except for that 72 scale sub! hint hint!

Ok guys, I have 10 sets of unopened white metal figurines (mixture of various MageKnight monsters and orges) which I would like to sponsor during the workshop. However if the response is good, I presume it'll be fair if it's a lucky draw. B)
Cheers

beachbum - July 21, 2006 06:19 AM (GMT)
As mentioned, Kelvin's terrific and super generous offer to give up his excellent figs for the painting workshop should not be missed. So c'mon ladies, don't let this golden opportunity go to waste.
