How to make your own avatar

Hey, this tutorial will teach you how to make your own avatar in Adobe Photoshop CS2. I know alot of you here do not have it, but, you can get a free trial. Go here and click Adobe Photoshop CS2 tryout. You will have to sign up, but if you arent comfortable with putting your real info, just put some fake info. Then all you have to do is download and install the file! It might take a while to download, but its worth it. ^_^ Once you have that, then your all set.

Now, after you have downloaded and installed Photoshop, open it up and we'll get started.

1. Go to File > New. Set the Width for 100 PIXELS and the Heighth for 100 PIXELS. Always use pixels when working with graphics. Make sure the background contents are set at White and the Color mode is RGB. You will now have a blank image.

2. Click File > Open. Browse for the picture you want to use. I am going to use:

3. Make sure that you have the picture you want for your avatar showing. Press CTRL+A. You must press CTRL first, hold it down while pressing a. That will select the image.

4. Click Edit > Copy. You can also press CTRL + C in the same manner as above.

5. Pull up the blank image that you made first, and press CTRL + V. You will now see part of your image on the once blank canvas. But..most likely its not the part you want to be your avatar.

6. Select the MOVE tool. It looks like an arrow and is located next to the marquee tool. You can also press just 'V' to get it.

7. Now, click on your image with the move tool and start to 'move' it until you get to the right part of the image.

8. Press CTRL + SHIFT + N. This will make a new layer. Click okay when a box pops up.

9. Press CTRL + A again. Go to Edit > Stroke. Change the width to 1 pixel. Make sure the color is black (or whatever color you want the border to be). Click okay.

10 Now click File > Save as. Title your avatar and save it in the format of JPEG or JPG. Upload it to any image host and there you go! My finished product:
