Keep in mind that only one boy and girl from each year (starting with 5th) can be picked - and only one 7th year girl and boy from the whole school for Head boy and girl.

The Roles of Prefects and Head Boy/Girl
Basically, Prefects moderate specified areas. The Head Boy and Girl moderate all areas. They have the privilege of warning people. If you look right under your avatar, there's a warning bar, and I'm assuming that everyone's is set to 0 right now. If you misbehave, Prefects and the Head Boy/Girl are allowed to up this level (for breaking the RPG rules. But obviously, as a Prefect or Head Boy/Girl, you need to think responsibly - because if a professor catches you taking advantage of your position, you'll be stripped of these powers).


(Please note that none of these people requested to be Prefects, or Head Boy/Girl. If you remember the books, students don't ask for the position - the staff pick the ones who are well capable of the position.)
