Title: New faction idea
Description: A faction i might start
Arcadiaus - March 6, 2007 11:21 AM (GMT)
Ok so I have been batting the idea around in my head. Then taking Dragons head and batting that one too with this idea. I am thinking about making a new faction that would fall under the vice section. This faction hasn't any official name yet but lets just call it.
"The First Galactic Bank"
The idea behind the faction is to add a more real idea behind credits in jka. And then once we move over to SWG thats when the faction could really kick in for its own personal good. With this faction people can make a transaction two other people or factions and we could also add prices to ships so building a fleet won't come so easily.
Starting your account
Personal accounts:
Every character can open a account with The first galactic bank. All of your character accounts will work exactly like your bio's work. You will make a thread and as your characters open accounts you will add them to the thread.. Then at that point I will edit the funds as you tell me ooc.. ( I plan to keep very tightly with your personal account and I also plan on having other people able to moderate the accounts so they stay up to date.) Obviously your account will not be affected by pocket change(Buying drinks or giving some money to npcs) however for weapons and vehicles services from other characters you can use your bank.
Faction accounts:
As we all know factions have to pay each other for services... Criminal hires the vice to help them smuggle and vice hires the merc for protection... Faction accounts are set up separate from personal accounts. Every faction has expenses and income.. So in addition to transactions you and a member of my faction will sit down and calculate everything your faction has to pay for and everything your faction gets in(when your not playing them) For instance every deal that the LDC makes that isn't role played would be added to your account.. So your faction gains money monthly aswell as by gaining money in game. The imperials are one faction in their current state that I don't think need an account and we can just assume they have enough money. However the alliance may require an account..
Why use the bank?
Well ooc wise using the bank will really add to the experience that the bank will add. In game reasons to use the bank are simple
*Your character will not have to worry about his money.
*You can make quick transactions
*your faction will be gaining money on record
Take out a loan
If your char needs money to start up a business or buy money he can sit down with one of our Bankers whos job it is to take loan requests and see how much your idea is worth.
Role playing as a banker
There are going to be all kinds of jobs for employees to undertake in the bank.. Company security included however it will cap at about 3 characters. Being a banker won't always mean you have to stay inside the banks base.
if your interested in becoming a part of this let me know and we will set something up.. I am going to begin work on my character now.

I think I got a good name that also is true to the star wars universe.

As I said in the PM, you need to try and be practical with this. Previously we discussed having an official wealth system but it was deemed too much to micro-manage. I do like this idea, because I think it is plausible but these are problems I forsee…
1) Character wealth is determined in a bio, most characters are wealthy enough to sustain everything they require. Or don’t acknowledge the need to acquire anything…they just have everything.
2) Not all characters will sign up, therefore their wealth is uncontrolled, whereas those that do sign up may lose out. (e.g. if their credits drop to 0, then they are at a disadvantage whereas those that don’t lose nothing)
There are ways this can work however, but I believe you could just keep it as faction costs, and allow Rp to involve the bank, but without keeping track of every account. Trust me you will get tired of doing that. I would be glad for my factions to sign up, but I know for certain some wont *coughborriecough*

Well I don't know it will actually probably be good for me... I check these forums so often with nothing to add... This way I can always update something..
As far as people who don't sign up... There are bound to be people who don't have bank accounts in this galexy. So I don't see a problem with that. Not to mention the downside for people who don't register is that they can't make transactions with people members who are registered. That way people who register are going to only do business with people who have accounts, because you can't add money to your account from people without bank accounts. For example...
"today ramos payed me 1000 credits for services repairing his ship"
then I look threw and ramos doesn't have a bank account. I won't be adding the money to your funds.. because we don't accept outside transfers. So now you don't wanna do business with anyone without a account to The intergalactic Banking clan because it doesn't make you any money.

Since I've already discussed this with Dragon other input would be nice.
Brutus - March 6, 2007 04:55 PM (GMT)
Sounds interesting, though like most ideas, i'd have to see it in action before knowing whether it can work
Arcadiaus - March 6, 2007 04:55 PM (GMT)
I have a feeling everyone wants to see it in action before they join... Which would leave me with no one joining
Brutus - March 6, 2007 04:57 PM (GMT)
lol, well i already have masses of chars to keep track of, i won't be making any new chars in the near future, so unless it piques my interest for an existing char i won't be joining.

I'm afraid I'd have to agree with brutus, I'd rarther not spend all the time sorting out money and bank stuff :P And for the moment, it looks boring! :D
Dragon - March 6, 2007 05:16 PM (GMT)
Perhaps rather than voting no you could give him some ideas? When you posted your faction Dragill I gave you feedback on it, same with you Brutus…so before you say no at least give some constructive feedback.
Arcadiaus - March 6, 2007 05:17 PM (GMT)
Thanks dragon... Kinda wish I didnt post the poll now lol
Dragill - March 6, 2007 05:19 PM (GMT)
Ok :(.... :P How are you going to make a good track of all these things, everyone has alot of chars? And surely wouldn't people lie, such as if they ran out of money or paid somone, couldn't they just not tell you :P
Arcadiaus - March 6, 2007 05:23 PM (GMT)
First of this only covers somewhat major transactions... So not every little detail would be marked... And why would the person receiving the money allow the other person to lie? That means they don't get the money.. and sense every transaction goes on record payed in full or in payments... So you cant say I payed him already... because EVERYTHING gets marked down payed or not payed. and if you dont post that you payed anyone then the other person is gonna post because they want their money. Lastly I dont think anyone is that dishonest besides shaon :P jk.

It should be faction orientated to work in my opinion

This is a good faction idea indeed. Still need to work a bit at it, but this will definately be a very nice faction.

I have come up with a good plan for the faction to work even if I have to cover every member of legacy rp's bank account with little work. However it does require members..
There are going to be numorous types of bankers.. And each banker is going to cover a different type of claim... So the more people that pitch in and join the faction we would end up with very little work for each person.. I really wanna do this faction now that I think about it more.. and to the people who voted no, I think your wrong it is a good idea.
