A Jaguar XJ saloon has travelled the length of the UK on just one tank of fuel - and then went on to top 1,000 miles in total.
The luxury XJ TDVi completed the trip from John O'Groat's to Land's End, a distance of 840 miles, with the average fuel consumption of 53.5 mpg.
Having reached Land's End the driver headed back to Jaguars Midlands HQ without refuelling and reached a total of 1000.2 miles before the tank ran dry.
Jaguar claim the achievement is testament to the XJ's technological strengths, which include advanced aluminium body construction and a state-of-the-art, twin-turbocharged V6 diesel engine.

Theres a big 5 page article about this trip in the May issue of Jaguar World Monthly.
They made sure they stuck to a constant 60mph throughout
I had a ride in a club members S-Type 2.7 Diesel when we went to Castle Bromwich a couple of weeks ago. I was sat in the car before the engine was started, and I honestly didn't realise it was a diesel. I'm very impressed. The performance was very good too, I can only imagine it would be even better in the lighter ally XJ350.
It looks like the way forward.
Don,t say that to Leo pete
