Title: Should parents be charged?

So the recent shooting in a Toronto city of a 12 year old leads questions as to what the hell as 12 year old was doing hanging out in clubville area of downtown Toronto at 2am. I mean the Child and Family Services Act says too youg to be on own or out that late. But police never enforce that with kids who are like 14, 15, etc. Also the age of consent is like 14 so why can't you hang out past 11pm or whatever the hell time it is.

So should the parents be held responsible? I am sure the police already referred to CAS as that is protocal and CAS prob slapped on the wrist and said don't do that again....so what message or lesson should the parents be taught? I mean do ya teach them a lesson?

It is a free world though....and in other countries around the world children are left to their own devices to supervise themselves, to work at very young ages....not that it is right.

So tell me ya think the parents should be charged with like:
Failure to Provide
Endangering the Life of a Child etc etc.....

I completely agree with that. No part of Toronto after dark is a safe place for a 12 year old. ANyone who lives in Toronto knows that, and those that don't are usually crack heads anyway.

The bars and nightclubs should also be responsible. There have been cases of 14 year olds stabbed/raped/beaten and even killed in a nightclubs. Why those kids in a bar? What are their security people doing?

12 year olds should be responsible enough to know that it isn't a good idea to be hanging around there. But, the parents must teach that 12 year old responsibility first. If they don't, they are endangering the life of that child, and are neglecting their duties as a parent.

But, did the kid sneak out of the house? Did they know their kid was missing? Those are the questions that any charges would hinge on.
